a note of recommendation

Alistair’s service to teachers seeking employment in Korean schools is rock solid. His communication is prompt, knowledgeable, and open to whatever concerns and questions teachers might have about any aspect of the process. Alistair is a trusted advocate and has treated me like a professional and a friend.

Cultural differences are challenging. But, keeping a genuine human smile on your face is so important for a successful experience. Not only does it mean you are happy, but many times it is the most important part of reaching out to students to help them learn from you. Your Korean colleagues also want to know you are comfortable and will extend their kindness and hospitality to you. Of course, misunderstandings cut both ways, and ultimately, you are the foreigner. So it is so helpful to have other people, like Alistair and other teachers, here in Korea for practical guidance and support when you need it. Teaching in Korea can teach you many unexpected lessons if we are open-minded and see problems as opportunities for finding solutions. Thanks Alistair for getting me started out right and being there when I need you.
